Trio of All American Prospects Sign Huge Contracts!

8/16/10

Tigers Go Big To Sign Castellanos

The Tigers, never afraid to shell out big money to bring in premium draft talent, signed supplemental first-rounder Nick Castellanos for $3.45 million, a record for a pick outside the first round. Castellanos, a Florida high school shortstop, is expected to be a pro third baseman.

A's Sign multi-talented SS Cabrera

The Oakland Athletics agreed to terms with SS Yordy Cabrera tonight.  His bonus well exceeds his slot at 1.25 million.  Cabrera looks to bring his true 5-tool talent to the Oakland Bay Area.

2009 Fall College Tour Alum Signs Big!

The Diamondbacks and sixth-round pick Blake Perry have agreed to terms on a $500,000 bonus. Perry, a projectable 6-foot-5 righthander, passed up a chance to join older brother Bryce at Kentucky. Despite not having an adviser, Perry landed a bonus more than three times MLB's recommended slot for players drafted after the fifth round ($150,000).

The best news of the night undoubtedly came when Yordy Cabrera told the Prospects Staff that he was coaching during the Prospects Fall College Tour! Our young men look forward to it! Congratualtions to the whole Prospects family for an incredible night.

Prospects Alumni dot the early picks of MLB Draft!

Congratulations goes out to Nick Castellanos, Yordy Cabrera, Karsten Whitson, and Manny Machado for being selected in the early stages of the Draft.  Machado was taked 3rd overall by the Baltimore Orioles.  Whitson was selected 9th overall ny the San Diego Padres. Castellanos was nabbed with the 44th pick by the Detroit Tigers.  Yordy Cabrera rounded out the early selections by being selected with the 60th pick by the Oakland A's.
Congratulations to these fine young men and we wish them the best of luck.  Castellanos and Cabrera were 2 year standouts for the Prospects in 2008 and 2009.  Whitson and Machado both donned the Prospect Red and Blue during the summer of 2008.
Please follow closely as the Prospects will release the full draft list in August after the signing date of August 15th.  The Prospects receive numerous accolades nationally from a wide variety of media sources.  The program is extremely honored to have played a part in 4 of the top 60 picks in the MLB draft!

Prospects Complete Great Run in Georgia at WWBA

The All American Prospects 17s finished in 3rd place at the biggest event in Summer Baseball,  the WWBA 17U National Championships.  The Prospects capped off pool play with a remarkable 5-0 record allowing 0 runs in the process. The 17s beat in-state rival Chet Lemon's Juice in the first playoff game 8-4 with timely hitting by Alec Saikal, Zack Tillery, and many others. The win was finished off with a stellar performance on the mound by 6'6 LHP Eric Skoglund  who dominated the Juice over 4 inninigs of work.

The Prospects swept 2 playoff games on Saturday in two different fashions.  The 17s scored early on a solo HR by Zack Tillery.  The guys executed in the middle innings to tack another run on the talented NE Ruffnecks.  The score held up until the 6th inning when the starter Jimmy O' Neill was lifted for relief pitcher Alex Leighton.  The Ruffnecks added a run and had the bases loaded with 1 out in the inning.  Leighton induced the inning ending double play to preserve the lead.  Closer Jose Brizuela slammed the door firing 91-93 mph fast balls to complete the victory.
The afternoon game pitted the Prospects vs. the NorCal East squad.  NorCal scored first with a 2 run HR in the top of the 1st inning.  The 17s proceeded to slam their way to 10 unanswered runs over the next 3 innings.  Alex Fernandez added a deep HR to left and the Prospect lineup of Gio Alfonzo, Jose Brizuela, Alec Saikal, Chris Chinea, Zack Tillery, Eric Barber, Jecid Talasona, Sam Taylor, Nick Maniotis, Blake Goodwyn, Jarred Mederos, Garrett Russini, Mitch Morales, and Tyler Kendall all turned in a magnificent week in Marietta.  The Prospects kept the hot bats rolling in the semifinal game with a five run inning in the top of the 1st.  The 17s ended up on the wrong side of the score and finished Monday morning.
The Prospects have been arguably the strongest team in the 192 team event since its inception.  They have claimed 2 championships and two 3rd place finishes at the National Championship event. The AAP 16s completed an amazing run to the playoffs at the same event.  This rare feat has not been accomplished very often over the course of the years.   Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and families for this amazing feat!

Prospects 16s and 17s at WWBA in Georgia

The All American Prospects 17s and 16s both improved their records to  2-0 at the prestigious WWBA 17U National Championship.  The Prospects have claimed the title in both 2005 and 2006.  The 16s have been quite impressive in their first two games.  They beat the Georgia Baseball Academy on Tuesday behind a strong performance on the mound by Dylan Silva.  Silva twirled 6 no nit innings before surrendering one in the 7th inning of play.  Edgar Michelangeli drove in both runs in a 2-1 victory over the always powerful All-Star Baseball Academy. Ryan Fetzner gathered the victory in Wednesday's game working 5 innings in the victory.  Ryan pitched out of several jams and was helped by stellar defense highlighted by shortstop Marcus Mooney. Mooney displayed his range and arm strength throughout the day with several fantastic plays. The Prospects 16s have positioned themselves to win their pool and advance to the knockout round of 32 beginning on Saturday night.

The Prospects 17s have overwhelmed their first two opponents at the WWBA National Championship.  They opened with a 4-0 victory over the NE Lumberjacks behind a combined no-hitter by Nick Molina, Steve Mathe, and Brandon Lewis.  The Prospects threatened in every inning and broke through on a two out double by Zack Tillery.  The Wednesday game vs. Philly Bandits was called early due to the 8 run mercy rule after 5 innings of play.  The 17s stole 6 bases and had 2 out timely hitting from Zack Tillery and Chris Chinea en route to run rule victory.  Every Prospect reached base and put up 5 runs in the last two innings.  Jimmy O' Neill and Eric Skoglund pitched magnificently and put the shutout streak to two.  The Bandits had one player reach third base the entire game and never threatened in any inning beyond.  The 17s sit at 2-0 entering Thursday's play.  Stay tuned to the website for further updates from Atlanta!

5/19/10

The All American Prospects open up the 2010 season with a weekend series against the Florida Legends. The Legends are one of the top 18 year old programs in the country. The Prospects are contenders in any national event they enter. The program enters the season with the expansion of the 16U Program to three teams and the inception of the 18U and 15U teams. In 2009, the Prospects held three major National Championships at one time (USA Baseball 16U Championship, AABC Mickey Mantle World Series, WWBA Under Class World Championship).

The 17U program boasts some of the best talent in Florida. These players have also been noticed by several ranking services as some of the best in the country. The 17s will aim their sites on the WWBA National Championships held in Marietta, GA (2-time champs) and the BCS Finals in FT. Myers, FL (2009 runners-up).

2010 also kicks off the 1st ever 18U and 15U Programs. The 18U program returns many of the same players that have won numerous national championships. This program will receive national attention quickly. It all starts Friday night vs. the Legends. The 15U program plays its first ever games against the Florida Diamond Pros on Saturday. The doubleheader will start at 3:00 p.m.

We look forward to a great Summer of action with all the many supporters and sponsors that make this program possible. We appreciate all your hard work and effort. Our young men will grow and prosper with the time proven structure the Prospects provide.

11/22/2009

The All American Prospects announced today the new Mental Aptitude Program. This test is similar to the pre-draft screening widely used in MLB circles on how to use the mind to maximize performance. At the conclusion, we will devise programs tailored to the individual based on strengths and weaknesses. This program will undoubtedly prepare our student-athletes further on and off the baseball field. Please submit a player interest form by clicking on the link below. 8/11/2009

Nick Castellanos

All American Prospect players Yordy Cabrera (pictured below) and Nick Castellanos (pictured above) batted third and fourth respectively for the Baseball Factory team in the 2009 edition of the UnderArmour All American Game. Castellanos was named the game MVP after a 4-4 performance at the plate with 4 doubles. He also won the Homerun Derby that took place prior to the game knocking numerous baseballs into the Wrigley Field bleachers. Not to be outdone, Yordy Cabrera blasted a deep homerun into the leftfield bleachers during the game. Cabrera will also participate in the Aflac All American Game that takes place on Saturday, August 15th, 2009. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net nationwide. Congratulations to these fine young men and the Prospects Family for a job well done.

Alexander Fernandez doubled home Omar Garcia in the bottom of the 6th to put the All American Prospects Red ahead for the first time in the championship game after having spotted their oponent, Triple Threat Baseball Academy, a 9-0 lead in the first inning.  Fernandez, who was 3-5 on the day, would eventually come around to score and the Prospects would hang on for an 11-9 win at the blue quad at Roger Dean Stadium.

Albert Almora was 4-5 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs to compliment some stellar defensive plays in centerfield for the gold medalists. Jarred Mederos was 4-4 with a double, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Randy Lopez picked up the victory on the mound following a gutsy performance by Jandyr Brito.

The All American Prospects now hold the WWBA UnderClass World Championship, AABC Mickey Mantle World Series, and USA Baseball 16U National Championship at the same time. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for this amazing feat!

2010 Overview-
The 17 year old club, comprised of mostly 2011 graduates, had arguably one of the finest summer seasons to date. They placed 3rd at the prestigious 216 team WWBA National Championships in July.

The following week, the Prospects advanced to the round of 8 at the 17U BCS finals in Fort Myers. The summer revolves around those 2 events and is the only team in the country to finish 3rd or better at the WWBA and the final 8 at the BCS.

Congratulations to all involved for a great Summer to this point. This week, the Prospects will take aim at the ProspectWire State Finals.

The team advanced out of pool play tonight (8/6). The Prospects secured a playoff spot earlier this afternoon with a 5-1 defeat of the South Florida Clippers

2010 Overview-

Congratulations on another fine season! The Blue team advanced to the playoffs at the prestigious 216 team WWBA 17U event in Atlanta.  This is an extraordinary feat considering it is very rare for a 16 year old team to advance that far.  The Blue team advanced deep into the USA Baseball 16U Championships in June. The Blue team has won the event 2 of the past 4 years and advanced to the playoff round each year. The Blue team capped off the Summer with a gritty 2nd place finish at the AABC SE Regional event losing 2-1 in the finals.  The team was decimated with loss of many key players at the event.  The Blue team lived up to its billing as a top 5 team in the country!

Any players interested in future programs need to fill out the player interest form. We will be looking over 2013 applicants in the near future.  If you wish to be considered,  please fill out the form completely.
