The Diamondbacks and sixth-round pick Blake Perry have agreed to terms on a $500,000 bonus. Perry, a projectable 6-foot-5 right hander, passed up a chance to join older brother Bryce at Kentucky. Prospects Complete Great Run in Georgia at WWBA
The All American Prospects 17s finished in 3rd place at the biggest event in Summer Baseball, the WWBA 17U National Championships. The Prospects capped off pool play with a remarkable 5-0 record allowing 0 runs in the process. The 17s beat in-state rival Chet Lemon's Juice in the first playoff game 8-4 with timely hitting by Alec Saikal, Zack Tillery, and many others. The win was finished off with a stellar performance on the mound by 6'6 LHP Eric Skoglund who dominated the Juice over 4 inninigs of work.
The Prospects swept 2 playoff games on Saturday in two different fashions. The 17s scored early on a solo HR by Zack Tillery. The guys executed in the middle innings to tack another run on the talented NE Ruffnecks. The score held up until the 6th inning when the starter Jimmy O' Neill was lifted for relief pitcher Alex Leighton. The Ruffnecks added a run and had the bases loaded with 1 out in the inning. Leighton induced the inning ending double play to preserve the lead. Closer Jose Brizuela slammed the door firing 91-93 mph fast balls to complete the victory.
The afternoon game pitted the Prospects vs. the NorCal East squad. NorCal scored first with a 2 run HR in the top of the 1st inning. The 17s proceeded to slam their way to 10 unanswered runs over the next 3 innings. Alex Fernandez added a deep HR to left and the Prospect lineup of Gio Alfonzo, Jose Brizuela, Alec Saikal, Chris Chinea, Zack Tillery, Eric Barber, Jecid Talasona, Sam Taylor, Nick Maniotis, Blake Goodwyn, Jarred Mederos, Garrett Russini, Mitch Morales, and Tyler Kendall all turned in a magnificent week in Marietta. The Prospects kept the hot bats rolling in the semifinal game with a five run inning in the top of the 1st. The 17s ended up on the wrong side of the score and finished Monday morning.
The Prospects have been arguably the strongest team in the 192 team event since its inception. They have claimed 2 championships and two 3rd place finishes at the National Championship event. The AAP 16s completed an amazing run to the playoffs at the same event. This rare feat has not been accomplished very often over the course of the years. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and families for this amazing feat!
5/19/10

The 17U program boasts some of the best talent in Florida. These players have also been noticed by several ranking services as some of the best in the country. The 17s will aim their sites on the WWBA National Championships held in Marietta, GA (2-time champs) and the BCS Finals in FT. Myers, FL (2009 runners-up).
2010 also kicks off the 1st ever 18U and 15U Programs. The 18U program returns many of the same players that have won numerous national championships. The doubleheader will start at 3:00 p.m.
We look forward to a great Summer of action with all the many supporters and sponsors that make this program possible. We appreciate all your hard work and effort. Our young men will grow and prosper with the time proven structure the Prospects provide.
